Join us in commemorating ANZAC Day 2020 on the Gold Coast.
With loved ones in the driveway or standing on your balcony, pay your respects to the brave Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who served and sacrificed in WWI. This year marks the 105th anniversary since the events in Gallipoli and the 104th ANZAC Day since the first in 1916, and a remembrance different from the rest in light of the difficult and uncertain period that we’re all currently facing together.
While parades and public services are no longer going ahead due to lockdown and social-distancing guidelines, you can still commemorate and honour our soldiers with live broadcasted coverage of this year’s National Memorial Service by ABC, who will also cover the origins of ANZAC Day, inspiring personal stories from servicemen and women, reflections and an evening national address by Governor-General David Hurley.
A brief summary of ABC’s program on Saturday, April 25 will be as follows:
5.00am – ANZAC Stories presented by Dan Bourchier
5.30am – National Memorial Service at the Australian War Memorial
11.30am – The Ode, The Last Post and one-minute silence
6.55pm – Message from Governor-General David Hurley
This will be available to watch and listen to on ABC TV, ABC iview and ABC Radio.
RSL Queensland will also be hosting an audio stream of their short Light Up the Dawn commemorative service at 6am, and are inviting all to stand outside and join in a collective homage to ANZAC soldiers, their relatives as well as those currently serving in the ADF.
