Since 2000, Supanova Comic Con & Gaming has been the home of Australia’s pop culture fandom. Supanova will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Come to the Gold Coast to celebrate if you are a fan of imaginative worlds from comics, science fiction, fantasy, anime, gaming, nostalgia, and literature. Cooly Classic Ocean Swim

April 10

Would you like to swim in the Gold Coast’s premier ocean swim among swimmers from all across Australia? The Cooly Classic is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to swim a course against the backdrop of three of Australia’s most famous surf breaks, namely: Snapper Rocks, Coolangatta, and Kirra.

You can choose from four distances: 1.0km, 2.0km, 3.0km, and 5.0km. No matter which distance you choose, you’ll be able to glimpse the beautifully clean seas of the Southern Gold Coast in the fall.

Gold Coast Open

April 30 – May 2

The Gold Coast Open will be back on April 30. This three-day event will be action-packed as some of the top surfers from around the world compete against local talent. Other activities, such as live bands, skateboarding, and sunrise yoga sessions, will be available as a bonus.

Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival

May 19 – 22

Do you enjoy listening to blues music? Then mark your calendars for the Blues on Broadbeach, returning for its 21st year. The inaugural lineup for their 2022 event is diverse and inclusive, offering something for everyone. There is James Morrison with this Motown Experience performance, US guitar legend Robben Ford, and fellow American icon R.L. Boyce, who’ll be performing alongside Australian Blues star Dom Turner.

Gold Coast Marathon

July 2 – 3

Are you interested in marathons? The Village Roadshow Theme Parks Gold Coast Marathon is on the first weekend of July. The world-class international marathon features eight races: the Village Roadshow Theme Parks Gold Coast Marathon, Wheelchair Marathon, ASICS Half Marathon, Southern Cross University 10km Run, Wheelchair 10km, Gold Coast Airport 5km Fun Run, Health and Wellbeing Queensland 4km Junior Dash and Health and Wellbeing Queensland 2km Junior Dash.

The Village Roadshow Theme Parks Gold Coast Marathon is for various ages and capacities. It can be a personal challenge to complete a distance, setting a personal best time, raising money for a good cause, or simply running for fun. In addition, as a mark of their accomplishment, race finishers will receive a commemorative medal, shirt, and certificate. At 9 a.m. on February 15, entries will open. The Gold Coast Marathon website has the race weekend schedule for 2022.

Gold Coast Show

August 26 – 28

The Gold Coast Show has a long and illustrious history that dates back to the early twentieth century. The Gold Coast Show commemorated its centennial in 2006 with Fiona Staun’s book ‘100 Shows –History of the Gold Coast Show’.

In its 115 years, the annual three-day exhibition continues its community-driven celebration of Queensland’s second-largest city’s agricultural legacy and current diversified culture. The Gold Coast Show has yet to reveal its all-new entertainment lineup for 2022. But visitors will surely enjoy a variety of demonstrations and displays, free live entertainment, a carnival atmosphere, rides, and the Gold Coast Show famous fireworks, based on previous events.

BLEACH Festival Gold Coast

August 2022

BLEACH* is the Gold Coast’s annual contemporary arts festival. The festival has a growing national and international reputation for creating experiences and telling stories that are out of the box, authentic and uniquely connected to the place. The festival usually runs for 11 days and showcases small concert series, immersive storytelling, performance art, visual displays and more.

Swell Sculpture Festival

September 9 – 18 

Queensland’s largest outdoor sculpture exhibition, now in its 20th year, will return in September to present another series of stunning pop-up shows across the Gold Coast. At this time, come face to face with awe-inspiring sculptures created by local, national, and international artists in the city.

Aside from the enormous exhibitions, The SWELL Fringe Festival in Currumbin will feature a SWELL Smalls Gallery. Guided twilight walks through the artworks, artist talks next to the sculptures, and artist-led workshops will also be available.
